Bhrathiyar Songs

Bharathiyar Songs.

In my view Bharathiyar is simply a hero. The tone of valour, spark in his words is extremely valouric. So energetic when we read especially when we read aloud with appropriate expressions and intonation. His songs are catogerized under ten categories: They’re national songs, songs of wisdom, songs of worship, multi songs, sole songs, auto bio grapy, songs of Kannan, the vow of Draupathi(first part – The intrigue of Duryodana), the vow of Draupathi( second part- Adimaich charukkam), the songs of koyel( kuyip paattu), revived songs of Tamil. I highly admire certain lines just like kulirthalum suduthalum uyirkkilai sorvu veezhchchihal thondarukkiali which means according to the saying of Bhahavad Gita the soul cannot be drenched, dried, destroyed, created, or burnt. Just like that there’s no discouragement to disciples, the song of waking Bharatha matha and one more unique characteristic in his songs is while singing we fulfill the duty of worshipping certain gods and goddesses so that we don’t have to worship separately for instance if we pronounce om sakthi om sakthi om parasakthi om sakthi om sakthi om again and again it creates a vibration in our soul and it gets refreshed in our soul so that we feel energized. One more example is kaayile pulippathenna kannaperumane nee kaniyile inippaththenna kannaperumane. One more song which praises the god’s grace is “ inthap puvi thanil vaazhum marangalum inba narumalar pooonjetik koottamum antha malarhalaich choozhtha kodihalum, oudatha moolihap poondu pul yaavaiyum entha tholil seithu vaalvanavo which means how do trees, bushes, creepers and climbers and herbs live? Unlike human beings trees and flowers don’t exert with hard labour and long hours. But still they live. How? By god’s grace. But it’s notable to consider they produce their own food by photosynthesis. However sunlight is needed for photosynthesis. Sun rises on god’s order, so howsoever it’s the god who makes live all these trees and flowers. One more striking song is vellaith thaamaraip poovil iruppaal veenai seiyum oliyil irruppal which means oh! That vani dwells in whote lotus and she dwells in the sound of veena, and she stays in happiness, she search for knowledge and she dwells in Vedas: Rig, Yasur, Sama, Athrvana, she dwells in the words of saints with pure hearts and she is the meaning for mercy. One more song is Yaathumahi nindrai kali engum nee nirainthai which means oh! Kali matha you’re everything and you’re filled in the whole world. His one of the foremost songs is karumbuth thottaththile. He tells an incident of Indian women labourers working in the fields of sugar cane. The way he empathizes towards those women makes us empathize. He mentions they’re suffering in the fields od sugar cane, they’re suffering immensely. Isn’t there away to eradicate this pain. They’re working like yoked bulls. If we pronounce a woman even the ghost will get melted. Oh! God, wouldn’t you get melted. In the South ocean in an island where none lives they’re suffering in a marooned jungle. They’re thinking of their home. They don’t have energy even to cry. Thus the wailing over the women ends. Another interesting song is inviting to call the lord if robbers stops you half way through the journey. Oh! Elder brother, if some robbers stop you half way through the jungle pronounce our god’s name so that they’ll get afraid and run away. If they command stop your cart pronounce our god’s name so that they get afraid and run awaywhich reminds me a similar cinema song “ Kaattu valiye or karichchang kuruvihala” but here it’s the bear which crosses not robbers.

So Bharathiyar must have been a ,man-of-words, he himself says “ennai sudar mihum arivudan padaiththu vittai”. So hats off to Bharathiyar.
