Federalism

Federalism.

In defining it we say fulfilling the rights of people and making arrangements to federalism and fulfilling federalism to geo graphically non-linked areas is called geo graphically non- linked federalism. Many countries have succeeded in attaining this, for instance countries like Canada, Belgium, and Switzerland. Even in Pondichcheri there’s a non geo graphical federalism linking three territories. In federalism compromization should be made regarding borders, cultural inter changings, and regarding distributing economical resources. If there are more than one territory one state shouldn’t begin to have influence over the other territories just ‘cause its geo graphical area is vast and the population of that territory is vast. The states should work unitedly for the pur[pose of financial assistance, border limits, cultural integrity and economical strength. States can’t separate itself from the central government nor it’s allowed either. If the states go against the central government it has a threat of being afraid of the states. Then it becomes difficult to the central government to control the entities or in other words the central government loses its influence over the states. Further it’s a mandatory fact that in federalism the states can’t separate themselves from the central government. In working as states and central government the two parties should have a mutual independence and mutual link should be considered in financial and administrational affairs. In countries like Switzerland, America, and Australia the power is given to the states than the central government. There are many advantages and disadvantages in federalism. The central government can assist the states regarding education, affairs of defence and further the relationship between the two parties should be preserved well. When the entities does not have financial power to fulfill its necessities it has to rely on the central government. Even in countries like Canada, America where its mentioned federalism is maintained well there are defects regarding mutual independence, and mutual compromization. So for a successful federalism these conditions should be fulfilled or at least to a certain extent. Further in federalism the uniqueness and independence of the states should be preserved and strong and deft operation of the central government is needed simultaneously.

In federalism the states can’t separate itself voluntarily is a positive phase. If the states decides to separate itself it should be based on its strength ‘cause obviously if the states are less less powerful or has lack of financial facility naturally it can’t operate pon its own. It can’t be considered legal that the central government refuses to give the rights of separating ‘cause even if the states separate itself from the central governmentit does not lose its sovereignity altogether. When various faith, ethnicities and cultures are joined in federalism they should be respected mutually. The necessities of each state should be considered and an acceptable and reasonable stewardship should be there. Counties where federalism worked out very well are Malasia, Nigeria, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada and America. The advantage in federalism is when the states can’t operate itself on its own it can get the assistance of central government. So federalism is a nice concept not only to Sri Lanka but also to countries where multi ethnic and multi religious groups live.

NATIONALISM

Nationalism is a concept which emphasizes a group of people who consider themselves as connected together by archaic history, culture, and common tradition. This is a concept which originated in early 19th centuries.  Always Nationalism aims at preserving the good will of the nation. In other words Nationalism is a concept which includes external factors like a language, a religion, common generation, and internal factors like awareness of the people towards the nation and love for the nation. All in all it emphasizes the loyalty where people are ready to sacrifice their lives for the country.

Factors like religion, culture, Hinduistic, social and economic influenced the origination of Tamil Nationalism. Sir Pon. Arunachalam cmade together Sinhalese and Tamil Nationalism , jointly Sri Lankan nationalism , not Sinhalese or Tamil Natiolism alone.
He was a mediator to gain common purposes. Sinhalese leaders were giving promises like we shall preserve the racial representation in the parliament. But in reality these were rejected by Sinhalese. So Sri Lankan Nationalism did not come into reality.Sri Lankan Tamil League was originated in 1923 by Sir Pon. Arunachalam.

The Arrival Of British.

On the arrival of British our country was under three kingdoms, kotte kingdom, Jaffna kingdom and Kandian kingdom. The British in order for their easiness to reign they united all three kingdoms under one kingdom. When giving independence to India they considered its neibour country as well and gave freedom to our country as well. But during their reign Tamils were more proficient in English than Sinhalese. So they recruited more Tamils to government service than Sinhalese. This aroused a fear in Sinhalese’ mind. When the British went away they never separated the single kingdom as earlier into three kingdoms. The problem began at this stage. Sinhalese didn’t like that more than half the population of offices were Tamils and there began the problem. Then there were introduction of ‘Quota’ system to encourage the enrolment of rural students to who got medium results into universities. And the urban students had to score high Z-Scores in order for entering the university. This discouraged Northern and Eastern students that they couldn’t enter universities though with high results. Thus gradually the Sinhalese population, their contribution in educational activities and their job opportunities were gradually raised up.( I don’t mean Sinhalese should stay backwards in education. Most of my teachers are Sinhalese and they were my examples. But when it’s planned and done it’s not a good phase.) This aroused a fear in Tamils’ minds. Both the ethnicities taking the role of getting fear over the other ethnicity there’s not a bit of advantage. We achieved nothing but sheer destruction.

Which caused the pathetic destruction in this beautiful island? Beginning thus in job opportunities and educational activities and fear of being neglected , in 1956 July 7th an agreement was signed between Sir Bandaranayake and father Selvanayaham. (Banda- Selva agreement- 1956 July 7th) and it was said that activities regarding agriculture, education, and emigration will remain in govenments’ hands.(It’s notable that he made a reasonable effort in solving Tamils’ problems). In 1958 there was an ethnic tension. Tamils were killed in multitudes and properties of Tamils were destroyed.(my intention is not spreading racism but sharing some historical facts will do). Following this in1977, and1983 there were riots against Tamils and further 5500 shops in Colombo,1150 houses, 153 factories, 63 garments, 18 temples were burned by Sinhalese thugs. Tamils’ economy was destroyed completely. 150,000 employees lost their jobs and Tamils tended to emigrate to Western countries like British, Norway, German, and Switzerland. In 1987 an agreement was signed between Mr. Rajiv Gandhi and J.R Jayawardane and the arrival of Indian Army( Indian Peace Keeping Force) took place. They arrived in the purposes of providing protection, creating administration and protecting natural life of civilians of North and East. In 1987 a war was waged between Indian Army and LTTE. Then J.R. Jayawardane government insisted that Indian Army should leave and we shall achieve the solution ourselves. And peace talks were held in Hilton Hotel for 14 months. Tin 1994, Mrs. Chandrika Bandaranayake Kumarathunge became the president ans she promised Tamils’ problem will be solved. She insisted saying the criminals of 1981 and 84 riots will be identified and punished and compromization will be given to those affected . In 2002, while Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe was the prime minister and Mrs. Chanrika Bandaranayake was still the president  peace talks and cease fires were carried out by the government with LTTE to get a reasonable solution. But LTTE leaders were persistent in getting Thamizh Ezham only and they refused any other solutions. So ultimately they were uprooted altogether.

How so ever the golden moment has arrived to reap a harvest to the long drawn issue of ethnic trouble. Really saying Tamils and Sinhalese(ordinary people) do not have any problem. They’re already concordant and harmonious towards each other. So as Sri Lankans let’s begin the journey and make a new, harmonious and problem free Sri Lanka.

Viva Sri Lanka!!!

7Am Arivu.

7Am Arivu.

7Am Arivu is A film comparatively with a different theme. Bodhisathvar goes to China and lives there very peacefully. One day some thugs come and attacks the local people. Bodhisathvar by just his glances controls them and makes them to fight among themselves. This is possible in spirituality cause saint Koushik once looked at a crane and it got burnet. Saints can control people but they should use it only if an urge necessity arises. One day the Chinese people mixes poison in Bodhisathvar’s food and give it to him to eat. He by his powers realizes it’s poisoned and asks why they gave it to him. They apologize and say if Bodhisathvar’s corpse is buried in China China won’t be overthrown by anyone. He accepts, eats it and dies. The again great saints does not fulfill requests like this but rather they consider peoples’ well being. If he’s alive and and help other struggling souls they’d prefer it rather than dying for selfish purpose of some people. Aravind is a man who works in a circus centre and it’s mentioned in the film that Aravind is a rebirth of Bodhisathvar. Great people do not born again and again especially until the end to the Kali Yuga. In the beginning of the film it’s shown that bodhisathvar cures a certain kind of disease. In the end of a film a Chinese man comes and spreads the same disease to people by injecting the germ through a dog. When that disease is spread to everyone India has to surrender itself to China so that China can overthrow India. That Chinese man knows the art of controlling people using the glance which Bodhisathvar knew. Bad souls can’t adopt these kind of arts. First their hearts have to be pure to adopt these spiritual arts. Secondly as I told these arts are possible only after passing many stages of Sadhana. Just an ordinary man can’t become clever at it. That kind of disease spreads to every one and Sruthi, the heroine makes to re appear those qualities in Arvind by some scientific method. At last Arvind cures that disease and the film ends.

Anyhow a film with a a comparatively different theme but lacks precision.

Black July

Black July.

The month of July of 1983 was labeled as ‘Black’ July when many and many Tamils were burned alive and further Business enterprises of Tamils, factories of Tamils and properties of Tamils were destroyed in multitudes. One strong reason why we reaped the harvest in Mullivaaikkaal is when other people fought non violently for their rights it was understood and the problem was solved by the particular entities. But in our country when our people fought non violently for our rights it was suppressed with terrible, horrible violence. Well. What is genocide. ‘Gene’ in Greek means an ethnic group and ‘cede’ in Latin means ‘to kill’. So two words were combined the word genocide was created . So genocide simply means “ one ethnic group intentionally doing activities to eradicate another ethnic group (by killing), torturing a person of another ethnic group physically and mentally, curbing the birth of a new baby intentionally, uniting people with other ethnicities intentionally and forcefully( often by marriages), annihilating a national group intentionally, annihilating the people who belongs to a particular religion, and annihilating the people who speak a particular language is known as genocide. Then the notion of Mr. Reginold Kure, inter marriages as a solution to ethnic conflicts bluntly, evidently a genocide but greased with honeyed words ‘cause uniting a particular ethnic group with another ethnic group is obviously a genocide. How deftly genocide is carried out without considering the international rules.

I’m particularly impressed by a poem which is written by a poet of majority group published in a Christian periodical, “The Messenger”, entitled “Burning Humanity”.

Burning Humanity.

One more incident in July.
I swear,
While it was an art of burning death bodies
I find no reason to save this incident in my memory.
I’m not an emotional fool nor mentally disordered.
Just like you me as well
Hesitate to express my feelings.
Me as well a practicalist,
In my day to day lives.
Also I have a feeling of precaution always.
If the government proclaims ‘forget’
I forget instantaneously.
No one has a doubt
In my cleverness of forgetting.
No one blamed me.
Still, yet I can’t erase the scenery of
How that thugs stopped that car.
Four individuals, parents and two kids, one boy and one girl.
They stopped that car just like they stopped all the other cars.
There’s no difference at all.
Some numerical questions
In a chauvinistic mood.

It could be a care in performing the right thing very right indeed.
Immediately after they performed it as usual.
You know oozing petrol, and burning alive and activities of the like.
But all in a sudden someone opened the door of the car
He pulled his two kids, crying not willing to separate from their parents.
He embraced them and brought to the car along with him.

The rest of the poem is missing. But it’s like all the family dies together. The father brought his two kids to the car ‘cause he doesn’t like to leave them as orphans. So everyone together dies in the car.

My Heart Is Moving.

My Heart Is Moving.

First and foremost our heartfelt thanks for the sisters and brothers of the South for voluntarily cooperating with the “harththaal” a protest against the assail of university students. Just think how many sorrows, how many wailings which are invisible to the rulers who just tore off the signed agreements fearing the negative forces. Often our youth tended to migrate to other countries even illegally spending so much money and at last still blurting out alone in prisons of different governments. This kind of illegal journey to Western countries are often perilous and also so pathetic; people traveled in freezers, the back part of vehicles, and sometimes died out of extreme cold and extreme hotness. Pack of people will be put in a vehicle, some people have to stay in dickies of the vehicle, people will be seated in seats and on them some other people who should conceal the ones who are in the seat. If they come across with check points they were carried in some other routes which took hours and hours to come to the main road. If they’re caught definitely sent to prison. This is only a sketch. There are millions and millions of hardships in this journey. Just think sisters and brothers how many sorrows and how many sad stories. I am sure our sisters and brothers of Sinhala will try to understand and follow me. Sisters and brothers, federalism is not separating SriLanka into two. Instead it’s a kind of ruling the major stewardship is in the hands of Central government and the sub authorities are in the hands of the state.Just consider there was a family which lived in multitudes. Soon there was fight among them. (among many families) So they now live in separate houses(each family lives in separate houses) but they are happy and not unsatisfied towards each other. Federalism is just like this. Really federalism won’t bring any harm to the harmony of the country. Definitely it’s not separating the country. Just think how it melts us to hear this news that sisters and brothers of Sinhalese began to understand us. Really a very big thanks from the bottom of my heart on behalf of Tamils. Sisterhood and brotherhood always wins. I believe and I know so!!!

Viva SriLanka!!!

What Happened In Sri Lanka.

What Happened In Sri Lanka.

The father of Sinhalese, Vijaya was chased away by his father from his kingdom, Kaling, presently known as Andra Pradesh in order for lack of discipline. He roamed here and there and finally arrived in Sri Lanka in A.D. 543. He saw Kuweni, a Yakka woman and enticed by her and married her but after a short while he chased away her and married a Pandiya princess, and his 700 followers as well. When he arrived in Sri Lanka the indigenous people were Yakkas and Nagas, high in civilization who’re called as Dravidians. At that time Buddhism wasn’t here in Sri Lanka. Buddhism was spread later by the monk reverent lady Sangamiththa. How Sri Lanka got its name is an interesting story. In Sanskrit cinnamon was called Sinhale and the people of this country were called Sinhalese. In Tamil it’s called Lavangam so the country got its name Lanka.

In Dravidian history there were four kingdoms or territories, viz, Kurinji, Mullai, Marutham and Neithal. They had flags of fish, tiger and the like. Dravidians history is rather interesting. Ponniah, Selliah, Vadivelu of Thanjai poet laureate introduced Bharatham reforming the former form Sathir. But the indigenous people were interested in Yaksha gaanam rather than sathir or Bharatha Natyam. It’s considered as people hunted in Kurinji, graced cattle in Mullai, made agriculture in Marutham and dealt in trade in Neithal. Thus it’s considered as an evolution.

Federalism is highly suitable for countries where more than one race lives. Already federalism is highly successful in countries like U.S.A, Australia, Switzerland, South  Africa. Sinhalese themselves requested for a federalism when the British made the country under single reign.(in 1920 when the British tried to unite all other territories with Kandiyan kingdom they feared the uniqueness of Kandiyan kingdom will be  lost). Now when the Tamils seek for a solution like federalism if it’s wrong means it’s a pointless and meaningless argument. Tamils never sought for violence all at once. First they fought non violently. The hunger strikes which were totally non violent  led by Amirthalingam and father Selva was carried out very successfully with a vast support of general public. But unfortunately this was suppressed by terrible, horrible violence. Poojya Sri Sri Ravishankar once visiting Sri Lanka emotionally told it’s not clear what these rulers have in their brain.(I'm not a follower of him.) If such a religious person is losing his temper means it’s thought provoking.

Howsoever Sri Lanka should bloom as  a country where there are zero conflicts.

The Habit Of Reading

The Habit Of Reading.

The habit of reading has so many innumerable, virtuous advantages. Firstly considering, you improve your concentration skills. An effective reader can read highly effective without missing smaller, micro information like year and initials of names. When you concentrate your mind becomes refreshing and extremely serene. Secondly, you improve your vocabulary power, you learn sentence structure and you learn grammar , in a nut shell you improve your language skills. You develop all the language skills just like reading and speaking which are receptive skills and writing and listening which are productive skills. Reading improves our level of knowledge, often you get a brimming level of knowledge of the content you read. If your knowledge improves you can deal and handle the cognitive things very deftly. Often if the students read a lot they can score high marks in their exams and also they can share their knowledge with their peers which results in a good rapport in peers which ends up in good friendship. You can improve your writing skills by reading a lot. Often now a days’ deft writers were good readers one day and they practiced a certain level of writing everyday. So if you’re an effective reader you can end up as an effective writer.

If we consider what the negative perspectives of watching TV are, you stick yourself to one place when you watch TV. So your calories do not get burned and ultimately your cholesterol get increased. Often, if you’re watching a film when you view the climax and if you don’t like it the whole watching is a sheer waste of time. Recent researches say that kids who watch TV more than 8 hours a day develop ill habits like quarreling with their peers, lack of concentration in studies, and lack of physical activities so on and so forth.

Also you can spend your spare time doing creative handiwork which reduces the wastes of polythene, plastic and the like. You can do gardening, a soothing pastime. You can choose a small place and you can plant so many trees there. When each shoot is appearing you feel like your own kid is growing.

So there are so many hobbies which are highly useful and soothing to our mind. So let’s stop killing our time in unwanted activities and let’s spend our spare time highly useful and let’s be useful to ourselves, the ones who’re around us, to our city, to our country, and to our world.

Bhrathiyar Songs

Bharathiyar Songs.

In my view Bharathiyar is simply a hero. The tone of valour, spark in his words is extremely valouric. So energetic when we read especially when we read aloud with appropriate expressions and intonation. His songs are catogerized under ten categories: They’re national songs, songs of wisdom, songs of worship, multi songs, sole songs, auto bio grapy, songs of Kannan, the vow of Draupathi(first part – The intrigue of Duryodana), the vow of Draupathi( second part- Adimaich charukkam), the songs of koyel( kuyip paattu), revived songs of Tamil. I highly admire certain lines just like kulirthalum suduthalum uyirkkilai sorvu veezhchchihal thondarukkiali which means according to the saying of Bhahavad Gita the soul cannot be drenched, dried, destroyed, created, or burnt. Just like that there’s no discouragement to disciples, the song of waking Bharatha matha and one more unique characteristic in his songs is while singing we fulfill the duty of worshipping certain gods and goddesses so that we don’t have to worship separately for instance if we pronounce om sakthi om sakthi om parasakthi om sakthi om sakthi om again and again it creates a vibration in our soul and it gets refreshed in our soul so that we feel energized. One more example is kaayile pulippathenna kannaperumane nee kaniyile inippaththenna kannaperumane. One more song which praises the god’s grace is “ inthap puvi thanil vaazhum marangalum inba narumalar pooonjetik koottamum antha malarhalaich choozhtha kodihalum, oudatha moolihap poondu pul yaavaiyum entha tholil seithu vaalvanavo which means how do trees, bushes, creepers and climbers and herbs live? Unlike human beings trees and flowers don’t exert with hard labour and long hours. But still they live. How? By god’s grace. But it’s notable to consider they produce their own food by photosynthesis. However sunlight is needed for photosynthesis. Sun rises on god’s order, so howsoever it’s the god who makes live all these trees and flowers. One more striking song is vellaith thaamaraip poovil iruppaal veenai seiyum oliyil irruppal which means oh! That vani dwells in whote lotus and she dwells in the sound of veena, and she stays in happiness, she search for knowledge and she dwells in Vedas: Rig, Yasur, Sama, Athrvana, she dwells in the words of saints with pure hearts and she is the meaning for mercy. One more song is Yaathumahi nindrai kali engum nee nirainthai which means oh! Kali matha you’re everything and you’re filled in the whole world. His one of the foremost songs is karumbuth thottaththile. He tells an incident of Indian women labourers working in the fields of sugar cane. The way he empathizes towards those women makes us empathize. He mentions they’re suffering in the fields od sugar cane, they’re suffering immensely. Isn’t there away to eradicate this pain. They’re working like yoked bulls. If we pronounce a woman even the ghost will get melted. Oh! God, wouldn’t you get melted. In the South ocean in an island where none lives they’re suffering in a marooned jungle. They’re thinking of their home. They don’t have energy even to cry. Thus the wailing over the women ends. Another interesting song is inviting to call the lord if robbers stops you half way through the journey. Oh! Elder brother, if some robbers stop you half way through the jungle pronounce our god’s name so that they’ll get afraid and run away. If they command stop your cart pronounce our god’s name so that they get afraid and run awaywhich reminds me a similar cinema song “ Kaattu valiye or karichchang kuruvihala” but here it’s the bear which crosses not robbers.

So Bharathiyar must have been a ,man-of-words, he himself says “ennai sudar mihum arivudan padaiththu vittai”. So hats off to Bharathiyar.

A Country's Leadership Qualities And Its Development.

A Country’s Leadership Qualities And Its Development.

The panel of people who lead the country is the president, prime minister, group of ministers and members of parliament. A country should have exemplary leadership qualities to guide the country. Often the position of a president is similar to a king of the then structured society. A king ruled very strictly and according to Dharma. If someone murdered someone the king punished them. He provided all the resources to to people. There was a bell in the entrance of the palace and if some citizen had any problem he can come to the palace and proclaim his problem to the king. The king provided the necessary solution to the problem, for instance if someone murdered someone he sentenced death to the murderer so that before punishing others the king didn’t had any defects like the king did not murdered anyone voluntarily so that he loses the opportunity of punishing the murderer. Thus a leader of a country should have a mediated attitude towards its people. He can’t have partiality over multiple ethnicities, faiths and languages. The chief character of a leader is being mediated. Firstly there can’t be disputes among ethnicity or among multiple religions in the country. This amiable, peaceful stability leads to many prolific conditions namely, economic stability, political stability, and the like. It’s the leader’s responsibility to uplift all the sectors of the country; often there are three sectors of the country, agricultural sector, industrial sector, and service sector. Often in first world countries service sector takes on the leading position, industrial sector rates second, and agricultural sector, the third. But for a third world country it’s advisable to foster the agricultural sector, simultaneously maintaining the stability of other two sectors without losing the equilibrium. A first citizen of a country should have some spiritual qualities as well which uplifts the position of a country in the world, for instance, if we consider the former president of India Dr, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, his circumstances of upbringing were very strong and prolific. His father quoted statements from Al-Quaran so that from his childhood onwards he was physically, mentally, socially and spiritually stabilized person which resulted in bringing a worldwide position to India. Secondly, if the citizens of the country( citizens of all ethnicities, religions and language) are respecting and loving the leader it proves that the leader is a noble person. Thirdly the king of then structured society wasn’t money minded, he didn’t steal the country’s money for his own betterment, he didn’t steal people’s exertion. Thus the stability of a prolific country is determined on the basis of ethnic, religious and language harmonies.

Love Marriage Or Arranged Marriage.

Love Marriage Or Arranged Marriage?

Well. This question is highly amusing in Western societies where most of the or almost all the marriages are love marriages. But the case is different in oriental countries where the system of the family is very orthodox or based on false notions. Often a girl is not allowed to go anywhere alone, for her protection her brother is sent along with her. I find no fault in sisterly brotherly love and even it’s not wrong in doing so when the societies’ attitudes or wrong notions are similar as well. When she attains the age of assent if she loves someone it’s a great blunder. The parents get highly tensed. Well, obviously, bluntly I don’t understand what is wrong in love marriages. Of course teenage love arises often ‘cause of the attraction to opposite sex. But an adult love, where there’s mutual understanding, mutual trust, mutual respect and mutual friendship and the couple is authentic in their love I find no reason to resist this kind of love. But if the lovers are keeping the affair stealthily from their parents I don’t have much appreciation towards that love. In stating love I mean a kind of love affair with the parental approval. Even an advanced kind of love is say two people meet, they fall in love, they don’t express it, they split and after waiting for 5 years they get married. This is called divine love. People argue this kind of love is impractical. But in this example the girl and the boy got married eventually. That’s called destiny. In this example if those destiny was marrying someone else it might have occurred without marrying the same one. While even destiny is not something destined. The destiny is based on vibrations. If you stay and wait with love and patience it’ll come into a reality ‘cause it’s those vibrations which works out. There’s nothing called destiny. Destiny can be changed on behalf of personal effort.

So I request from the parents of this world most particularly parents of oriental countries like India and SriLanka that there’s nothing wrong in a kind of love I’ve mentioned and bless your kids for a happy life ahead!!!

Buddhism, A Peaceful Religion.

Buddhism, A Peaceful Religion.

Buddhism is a peaceful and beautiful religion. At times if we think this kind of religion is very easy to follow it is ‘cause of the simple teachings of Buddhism. There are eight noble principles or noble Eightfold Truth which should be followed by a monk in Buddhism.  The eight principles are seeing the good things ( Samyak Dhrushti), good motivation ( Samyak Sangalpa), good truth( Samyak Vak), good acts( Samyak Karma), good life( Samyak Ajeeva), good motivation (Samyak Viyamam), good notions( Samyak Smirthi) or in other words right speech, right action and right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right concentration, right understanding, and right thought.

Firstly seeing the good things is seeing the positive of all good things and also analyzing everything and accepting the good things, and knowing all things by its characteristics as it is, is called Samak Dhrushti. Secondly Samyak Vak includes speaking good things, especially abstaining from speaking lies, abstaining from speaking ill of others especially in the person’s absence, abstaining from speaking harsh words and abstaining from unwanted words. A person who follows Samyak Vak should be absent from all blemishes and should spread happiness and encouragement to all others. Thirdly good acts or good deeds, one should avoid deeds which creates evil results and should prefer deeds which creates good results. Fourthly Samyak Ajeeva, when one is doing a job he shouldn’t hurt anyone or should abstain from bad deeds or deeds which creates disturbance or sorrows to others and he’d prefer deeds creates good results and also one should be selfless ‘cause selifish life is animal like. Fifthly, good motivation, which means good thoughts or good seeds of thoughts. Some say the reasons for our sufferings are fate, some say ‘cause of god’s intention, some say they occur without any reason. If there’s lust in our mind we’ll suffer. We become of what we imagine. If there are bad thoughts in our mind our words and actions will be blemished. So one should be aware of one’s inner thoughts or inner enemies ‘cause enemies are not outside. If there’s good thoughts in our mind that is a friendly thought and if there are evil thoughts in our mind that is a perilous thought. And next, cne should not waver on seeing happiness, for instance, on meditating many powers will be gotten. Without considering these happiness one should aim at salvation( I guessed this ‘cause this is said in Hinduism). Further one who knows the nature of him and one who knows the nature of others and acts accordingly his nature is connected with the nature of nature. This is called Samyak Samadhi.

Well. There are mainly two kinds of Buddhism in the world: Theravada Buddhism also called “Great Vehicle”, which is followed in countries like Sri Lanka, Thailand, Burma, Laos, Cambodia and parts of South East Asia, and Mahayana Buddhism, which is followed in countries like Tibet, China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and parts of Northern East Asia. Also there are differences between Theravada and Mahayana Buddhism. Theravada Buddhism is connected with silent or mindful meditation while Mahayana Buddhism is connected with mantras and chanting. Mahayana Buddhism suggests that the Bodhisatvas delay their realization and stay in samsara to help other struggling humans while Theravada Buddhism emphasizes the enlightenment of Bodhisatvas before releasing other souls who’re in samsara. In Mahayana Buddhism Bodhisatvas have greater prominence. Theravada Buddhism places greater emphasis on “Arhat”, liberation or Nirvana. In Mahayana Buddhism the role of Bodhisathva path is given prominence.

Thus Buddhism has it's own doctrines and there are two main branches of Buddhism as aforesaid.

Lanka, Lanka, I love You.

Lanka, Lanka, I Love You!!!

I do not want to be alone but I do want to be aloof. It is highly necessary in this perilous world to be aloof from certain activities. Our Tamils’ educational activities are intentionally curbed using certain blithering techniques. Recently we read a news in the news paper that our province rates last in O/L results. Is it ‘cause our students are indulging in unwanted activities and killing their time unnecessarily and voluntarily. No. Definetely not. Our youths’ educational activities are intentionally curbed using the weapon of drugs. Today drugs is distributed in school entrances. It is during former president Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa’s period the drugs were intentionally spread over in Northern and Eastern provinces. It is their terrible reign that created deft sword thrusts and robbery in our provinces. If they don’t punish these activities our people will be spoiled and ultimately our society will fall down. Their plan worked out well. The aftermaths of former intrigues are still prevalent in our society. Personally, I’m not a supporter of LTTE, Liberation Tigers Of Tamil Ealam, instead I’m a mediator who sees the pros and cons of each side without taking any side. It’s notable that during LTTE’s period no Harishnavi was raped, no Vidya was raped. But it is also highly blithering attacking the religious places, using humans as human bombs and engaging children in military activities. The present government’s activities regarding our issue are commendable but then again a certain kind of bias can be seen. Activities should be taken considering Tamils as their sisters and brothers, they should consider Tamils as a fellow ethnicity and acitivities should be taken. Then the efforts will be much more successful. But I see that bright dawn, when Tamils ans Sinhalese are holding their hands with love as sisters and brothers and as friends as I see this very earth!!!

Living In A Multi Lingual Society.

Living In a Multi Lingual Society.

Living in a multi lingual society gives us a lot of experience. It gives us an opportunity to understand another culture, another language, another tradition and another faith. Researchers say that bilingualists' brain work double faster than a mono linguist. When we learn another language not in a superficial level but in a deeper sense we naturally develop a respect and understanding towards that language and ethnicity. That's why people say living separately ( Tamils and Sinhalese separately geographically) won't create an understanding between ethnicities. Of course as per my personal experience living with another ethnicity paved me way to mutual respect, mutual understanding, mutual friendship so on and so forth. But it'd always be the vice versa as well which means a Sinhalese should be ready to learn Tamil eagerly not only for salary increment but they should love Tamil and do it. Another reason why I learnt Sinhala voluntarily and eagerly was according to the statement of "Artha Sasthram" of Kaudilyar, if a king invades another territory he'd accept and adopt that particular territory's language, tradition, and faith not his own. This means if a Sinhalese is willing to live in the Northern or Eastern part of the country he or she'd learn Tamil fluently. Ethnicians tend to preach Sri Lanka should be created with citizens full of tri lingual knowledge. I'm not boasting but I learnt Sinhala very eagerly, I had a Tamil-Sinhala dictionary and I used to refer unknown words and I still learn Sinhala. But I've never met a single Sinhalase who learn Tamil eagerly except for salary increment. A person who can't respect another language can't be a human being at all. Just see how many spelling errors take place in name boards, for example the word "paavam" which means poor is used instead of "paalam" which means bridge. Further a creating turmoil and havoc over a language is very blithering. One more jest is the majority's argument of inter marriages as a solution to ethnic trouble. I recall with a mocking smile that a Buddhist monk has told that if we unite people of various ethnicities only a child will be born but harmony won't be born. How true. As per my case I'm different 'cause I'm not a purely Northern person 'cause I spent most part of my life with Sinhalese in kandy. We've to take a real effort in solving ethnic conflict, it shouldn't be only to appease the international. Efforts should be made with a real love for a fellow ethnicity and this won't lead to another misunderstanding and turmoil.

The Life Of Black Americans.

The Life Of Black Americans.

About a two hundred years ago Black Americans did not have any rights compared to White Americans. They were treated like slaves, they were put into ships and carried as slaves to other islands. If he tries to escape he'll be burned in the skin, if he tries to escape for the second time the sinew of thigh will be cut, and if he tries to escape for the third time definitely sentenced to death. They're a little like savages and this may be the reasons for this maltreatments. Later they're educated by the White Americans and brought into a much more better condition. It's mentioned in the "The Life Style Of Algerians" by Fanaan, White Americans were afraid of Black Americans. There was a white American lady, when she observed Black Ameruicans danced around their prey she got afraid and afraid. Later on even when there wasn't Black Americans dancing around the prey she got afraid.
Small kids of White Americans said, "Oh,mom, I'm afraid of that Negroe. There were even situations when one White student went late to school and when the teacher inquired the reason he said" Oh sir I'm sorry. But I couldn't help looking at the Negroe on my way and I couln't feel the time was passing. Then they were called Negroes but later on after many fightings for their rights they were began to be called Black Americans. Sir Martin Luther King's infamous speech, I have a dream when people are not judged with their colour of the skin, is an inspirational speech which I admire a lot. The latter stages of White Americans were well. Especially the American president  Obama was accepted by the White Americans as the president of America is very nice. There was poem which was written by Romein regarding Black Americans is as follows.

Here after
This is going to happen.
We are
Negroes.
Blacks.
Ugly Blacks.
We wouldn't allow it anymore
To be your Negroes
To be your Blacks
To be your ugly Blacks
In Africa and America.

And the final stanza of the poem is as follows.

Time has passed.
And the time has come to reap the harvest.
To stop the feeling of
Negroes,
Blacks,
And Ugly Blacks.
I say the time has passed.
Even the drums would accept
the language of international song.
Our day will come.
It would be a day of
Ugly Blacks,
Ugly Indians,
Ugly Arabians,
Ugly Malayans,
Ugly labourers.
Let's stand up,
Whoever is suppressed,
And whoever stands for justice.
We would march to put an end
To the world of
Ugly Blacks.
We would march
To assail your check points.
To assail your banks.
We would march just like a conflagration!!!

The Pathetic Life Of Upcountry Labourers.

The Pathetic Life Of Upcountry Labourers.

Two hundred years ago Indian Tamils who work in estates were brought to SriLanka by the British telling fake facilities. In the journey from India to Sri Lanka many died of wild animals’ attack, fatigue, and communicable diseases. They after arriving here were engaged in work of tea and rubber estates. They were intentionally, deliberately made into slaves. They don’t have the documents to prove that their ancestors lived here and hence they can’t prove their citizenship as well. They were maltreated in the estates but they were watched in order not to return to India. So they were deliberately made into slaves. After the independence their citizenship was snatched. As a result they are neither the citizens of India nor Sri Lanka. Thondamaan, a politician settled in Sri Lanka from India continually fought for their rights. Though the rulers accepted they are the back bone of the foreign income they tended to preach yet they’re slaves. Their slave state was very well planned. When none is slave to none under the sun such a blithering attitude to treat them as slaves. Their living place is called as “Layan Rooms”, resembles like pig sties. They lack spacious space, hygienic facilities. ‘Cause of this these people are vulnerable to diseases like Dengue, Kolara, Anaemic, and Diarrea. Pregnant mothers lack nutrient food so their infants are either still born or babies with less weight. Further these kids does not have nutritious food to eat , they are vulnerable to mental diseases . Ultimately their educational activities gets spoiled. There are students like Sinnasaamy Dharmaseelan who have brimming level of knowledge to invent something. Normally we say upcountry is poor in education. But if all the hidden potentialities like Sinnasaamy Dharmaseelan  will be identified and given an opportunity many upcountry students will gleam. The people who are living against the conscience are living like free birds. But if we can’t treat the back bone of foreign income with respect it’s such a shame to Sri Lanka. Aren’t they human beings?

Hinduism.

Hinduism is a primitive religion; so primitive as the God. This does not mean I began to hate or dislike other faith. I respect and love all faith.Phases in Hinduism is amazing especially Yoga and respiratory exercises brings amazing results. Hindus 'cause of lack of knowledge of Hinduism Hindus themselves criticizes our religion. This is rather pathetic where as all other followers of other faith respect and pay their homage to their faith very deeply. Let us delve deep into some of our rituals. We offer flowers to god 'cause once we see the fresh flower our heart as well become revived and we pray the god oh! god, my heart should be pure and revived just like this flower. Why do we light lamps. Once we see the light of the lamp we think just like this light all my ignorance should perish away and my soul should be illuminated just like this light. Why do we break coconut in front of Lord Ganesha. When we break coconuts we should pray oh!god just like this hard part of the coconut my ego should be uprooted and just like this white part of the coconut my heart should become soft and pure. Why do we smear holy ash. It kills the germs in our body and the odour of perspiration will not spread to others. When we smear it in our forehead the memory power and concentration power increases. And we melt camphor, there are varieties of melting camphor just like five camphor and many more, for the harmony of the world. And the sacrifice of animals is very blithering which is not preached in our religion at all 'cause Bhahavad Gita says love all humans and creatures. Do not kill a creature 'cause the same athma which is inside you is inside the creature only the outward appearance changes. These are rather created by not the ones who love the religion but rather the ones who hate the religion. So Hindiusm is so peaceful. Buddhism as well is a peaceful religion. Whenever I listen to "banas" on poya days I find it very peaceful.(Budham saranam gachchami). King Ashoka led many wars and thereby peaceless. Once he followed Buddhism he found himself so peaceful. No wonder. Other faiths as well show the right path not a single religion leads a man into wrong path. So just like live and let live let's love our faith as well as others'.

Moving towards a bright future.

The appropriacy of writing this on the independence day is suitable I guess. Already there are two independences and lukily, fortunately we're moving towards the next step.

It is highly appreciable and commendable that the recent activities of the government is a silver line in the dark clouds. The way they began to approach Tamils' problem is incredible. The honorable president himself visited refugees' places and promised them that a comfortable living places will be given to them. He spoke in a meeting "I talked to those refugees, I looked at the vessels they use, I looked at the way they live". The people who speak of racism please visit those places and see their inflictions  is rather touching. Isn't this a milestone SriLanka's history. Many promising developments can be seen. It's promised that the process of releasing Tamil prisoners will be hastened. The promise has been given to European countries that an internal inquiry will be carried out. Mr. Maxwell Paranagama prepared report without partiality and he said " It wasn't a difficult task for me. I prepared the report without fearing anyone and without partiality. He further said I didnt mention foreign intervention is needed instead technical assistance can be gotten if necessary from foreign countries. Meanwhile the budget as well a promising phase to SriLankans. For the first time in history certain amount of money is allocated to refugees and upcountry labourers. It rescues the country from "the bottomless pit" of debts. Further it emphasizes the increase in Gross Domestic Products inclusive of Northern and Eastern province.

Thus these promising benefits feel each and every SriLankans like in heaven.  And there'll be a reasonable solution to the long drawn issue of ethnic conflict is a silver streak.

Political Science.

Political Science is a modern field of study and its origination is as old as the Greek civilization. The word political Science is derived from the Latin word "Polis" which meant government states of Greek. The father of Political Science is Aristotle who analyzed many principles and theories in political science. Political Science means human behaviour regarding politics. Political Science is a study of why people realized the necessity of a government, why he established a government and how he accepted the government according to his desires and needs.Analysts argue a great deal whether political science is an art or a science. Many accept it as an art without much chaos but ponder over a lot that whether it's a science. Science is  a field of study where according to hypotheses and from that derives conclusions. Political Science includes a vast area of subject ares namely political theories, government, political pressure groups and public relations, national government and politics, and internal relations. Two types of approaches have been used in Plato's period. Thy're traditional approaches and modern approaches. Traditional approaches describes the principles of government and this explains the relationship between humans and government using certain principles. Further classification of traditional approach is historical approach, institutional approach, legal approach and comparative method approach and modern approaches describes societal institutions and individuals regarding political approaches. This approach is called as sociological approaches as well. The Divine Theory says that the king is a representative of god and therefore whether the king is right or not people have to obey him and this often led to monarchy and facscism. Another belief is that the pope is getting the authorities from the God and the king derives it from the pope. There are three political genius we're going to discuss about Thomas Hopps, Lokk and Rousseau. Hopps lived in a period of civil war and he created his policies according to that. He said that humans were not disciplined, they're savages, they quarrelled among themselves, thier life was full of fear of death, isolated and dangerous. Therefore their life was not ordered and rescued. Every individual decided his behaviour in his own will and this was called the natural law. Social harmony was not possible. There wasn't guarantee for lives or properties. So in order to protect themselves they elected a leader made an agreement and lived under his stewardship. Lokk lived in a period of revolution so his policies were based on it. Lokk tells that people were disciplined and well educated and lived with compromization with each other. People were protected. Earlier though there was so many properties it was a possession of the society. So there was no problem. But later 'cause of increase in products savings was created. At this time disputes were created among them. The abled suppressed the disabled. So the victim in a notion of a victim should be the judgejudged his own problem and here 'cause of the victim lacked the knowledge of legal system many problems were created. So the people elected a leader. Here the sovereignty is both with people and the king. If the people don't like the way of ruling of the king they can change the king. Here people including the king are equal under the law and the government is an entity which was elected by people and Lokk emphasizes a limited monarchy or or government ruled by some people. And Rousseau, a French political genius though born in Switzerland. He said that people were not savaged simultaneously not disciplined and they were in a mediated position. As a result of increase in product savings was created. Then on wards disputes were created. So in order to protect themselves they elected a leader. He said though individuals desired varied he has to compromise for common purpose and the policy one for everyone and everyone for one was emphasized. Hopps said that if people violated the agreement they'll go to natural law. But Rousseau's saying as if they violate the agreement they wont go to natural state but they remain in the agreement is accepted intellectually. Sovereignty is a basic principle in political science.  Sovereignty means higher authority of the government. Sovereignty is a basic characteristic and a higher authority of the government is a well served definition. And the delegation of power as well a considerable theme in political science. If the power is centralized in one person's hand it's called monarchy and if it's in many it's democracy and if it's with some people it's democracy of some people. Thus political Science is a modern field of study.

Literary Works.

Literary Works.

Literature is a mirror of life; it penetrates human struggles, infliction, and sorrows. Literature evokes the emotion of the reader or we may say it makes the reader to react aesthetically. A meaningful literature creates a delirium in readers' minds. When a reader thinks or marvels that none of the poetry I read before gave me this state of delirium or when the reader enjoys with the writer it becomes a meaningful literary work. A poetry is like a monster which we hold in our shoulders. Every one holds it. But everyone can't control the monster deftly. The monster itself identifies the best or real poet automatically. Literary creations are liquids which takes the shape of vessels. Literary creations are liquids and the readers are vessels. Each reader interprets the same literary creation in different manners. So the literary creation takes the shape according to the readers' interpretation. Hykoo is a special kind of poem invented by Japanese which fulfills the rule of syllables per line. The first line and the second line tells a view, if you with a little gap read the third line it brings you into a total world or it creates a totally new view. There's is also cinquain poems which as well serves the purpose of syllables or words per line . Often the last line should be  a synonym of the first line. Apart from these a meaningful literary work should carry a message which could be a germination in the society in order for a better change. A literary work does this by creating many micro changes in the society so that the ultimate change is vast. Though we can't gleam as a gleaming writer at least we'd try  to create some meaningful literary work with some message to the society. So that the duty of us to the world is done to some extent.
